Day 297/Day 3 – Part 1

We drove up to Hanalei and the end of the road.  The park there is now reservation only but there is a shuttle bus you can take from Hanalei to miss out on the fun of one lane bridges!

Here is a view with a cruise ship (maybe the one we were on back in 2099!).

A closer view:

We found a nice beach and the Dailylife Wife had to go out on it…

Bird footprints in the sand!

This is a link to a video for the photo above. It >>should<< appear in another window and may take a few seconds to download.

Day2229708

Pine cones in the sand…little bitty pinecones…

Here is our “Kia Soul or Equivalent”…a Chrysler Pacifica.  A Soul might be better on these small one lane roads, but this is a lot more comfortable!

Day 296/Day 2

We stopped for “Breakfast Strombolis” the next morning on the way back to Lihue.  Pretty good, and a half is huge!

You eat with the birds in Hawai’i.  I had forgotten how noisy it can be, even without the roosters running free here!

We headed back to Princeville after hitting Costco and Walmart for some supplies, trying to beat the construction traffic.  At McDonald’s for an iced tea!

A little drive further up our road.  The Nene is the State goose.

This is on the trek from the parking lot to our unit.

Once we got back we relaxed.  It was a long, late flight yesterday!  The Dailylife Wife snoozed away a good part of the afternoon and evening.  It is a nice unit: two bedrooms if you are in the area!

Day 295

We are off across the ocean again.  Well, half way.

It was a long boring wait, and the plane was full.  They kept offering to check carry on’s through to the destination.

That’s why mine is a carry on.  I don’t want it checked through.  Too much camera and computer.

Once nearing Seattle you could see the fire burning north of there.  I love the rugged mountains.

One more view of the fire.

Here is a little bit of Puget Sound.  If you see a little orange tinge here it is air pollution.  Way better than it used to be, I think.

Once we were on the ground I saw a blue 747 Cargo jet.  All of the passenger ones retired at the beginning of the Wuhan Plague Era.

They still seem to be popular for cargo: another one landed as we waited to take off.  Here is that blue one:

It was a late flight.  The sun was setting as we taxied to take off.

Here is the inside of a 737-800 (not a Max!) during take off.  They turn off all of the lights.  I think they are noisier than previous planes I have been on, even the one from Great Falls to Seattle.

One last shot out the window as the sun set.  I wasn’t by one, so I couldn’t see much outside…not that there is much above 30,000 at night.  At least William Shatner wasn’t in my row…

On the ground and waiting at Budget on Kaua’i, Hawai’i.  They didn’t have the “Kia Soul or equivalent” that we reserved…so we had to take a Chrysler Minivan.  Darn!  Then is was a long, dark 45 minute drive to Princeville and our abode.  Lots of construction, and never a spot above 50MPH…mostly 25.  The instructions on checking in after hours leave a bit to be desired.  We finally found a security guard and he got us squared away.  Other than the half mile march (or so it seemed) from the parking lot, it is a nice place!

Day 294

Well, well.  The Wuhan flu has struck again…this time first hand.  It got us both.  Right before we are trying (again) to head to Hawaii, too.  Last time was they closed Hawaii a day before our trip was to begin, in March of 2020.  I hope someone isn’t trying to tell us something.  With the (supposed) help of Paxlovid we still hope to make it after two days of Symptom Freedom.  I mean I don’t particularly care to fly, but this is ridiculous!

It is the latest variant (can’t not be stylish and have the old variant!).  If we did not know about the ‘Ronna, we would have a summer cold with sore throats.  Well, if you have to get one (and we all will eventually), this version is pretty mild.

So stay calm, carry a ‘gat and wash your hands!

Day 293

Over Labor Day the DD#1 and crew went camping.  We went up to see them.  Here is two of three generations: Skeeter, the Dailylife Wife, and the Dailylife Wife’s sister.

I got all three generations here, if not all of them…DD#1 is included.

Day 292

There have been a lot of these on the Interstate lately.  They have blocker trucks to stop people from trying to pass on curves.

Pretty big windmill blades!  They used to come through Great Falls on train cars, but I think these are bigger than those were.

Nice of them to pull over once in a while, too!

Day 291

Lugnut got a late birthday present from me…shipping took over a month!

He liked the one I got, but wanted it in blue.

He seems to like it…

I am not sure why he is thanking the Dailylife wife, but they are buds!

The hats are from Cousin T’s, online.  He makes a specialty pancake batter in a variety of flavors.  It is pretty good!  And he says nobody is going to make him take HIS photo off of the label!

https://cousints.com

And he has some pretty awesome hats, too!

Just a couple of awesome trucker dudes out driving in their truck.  Although Lugnut will have to get a blue truck when he gets a license…

Day 290

More random goodness!

Skeeter the Wild One with the Dailylife Wife.

A very nice old truck we saw in Bozeman, with the license plate blurred for their protection (being from Kalifornia and all…)!

The DD#1 and 3/4 of the crew.

Day 289

Toots took this photo on her cellphone on 10th Avenue South.  I think it will be a winner at the Fair next year!

Some of the deer that live down near Giant Springs!
