On that trip through the Black Hills with the Dailylife Grandpa in 2002, we stopped in the town of Dubois, Wyoming. There was a Royal Enfield dealer there: a noted British motorcycle brand from 1901, that moved the factory to India in the late 1950’s, and they have been in continuous production since then. Of course we stopped for a test ride! The bikes have changed a lot in the last 25 years. Still a neat mid-sized bike line.

I am sure I have seen one of me taking a ride, but I can’t find it, so here is Brother Dennis; not sure about the lady and kid behind him on the sidewalk:

In 2003 the Iron Butt Association (“a US-based organization dedicated to safe long-distance motorcycle riding, which claims membership of over 75,000 people” *), of which I am a proud member with a number in the middle four-digits, was held starting and ending in Missoula, MT. My brother and I attended to see the Rally participants take off on their 11 day adventure! This was the KOA store, with our first viewing of a tin (okay, aluminum) BOTTLE of beer…note the fine leather vest acquired the previous year on the trip with the Dailylife Grandpa.

Back in June of 2002, Brother Dennis, Dailylife Grampa Charles and I took a motorcycle trip back to the Dailylife Gramp’s old haunts: Wibaux, Beach, the Black Hills, and Yellowstone! We all got matching leather vests, although someone made their’s not too visible…

Or 24,837 days +/- a couple…

I was watching a YouTube video “yesterday” from a guy on lessening the amount of photo gear you carry as you get older. He wanted everyone to post what they carry and where they were going for a walk the next day. I replied that I was a day away from 68 and planned to carry my Canon M50 with a vintage Argus Cintar 50mm lens from the early 1950’s, a few years before I was born, down on River’s Edge Trail. Just about the time whatever crud I have hit me. So a couple days late…here is Me, in the new car window.

One of my favorite photos, considering it isn’t technically too good. From a 2002 trip to the Black Hills with the Dailylife Granddad and Brother Dennis. From the Wind River country!

Yummers!

Right before I caught whatever it is I have, I found this CD book full of backups and such from the turn of the century! Yes, 1999 to about 2003, and I am only a third of the way through, I think. Photos I had forgotten or thought lost, as well as a lot more. Much of the programing is unusable, in part because Windows XP isn’t very well supported anymore, and part because I run all Apple now. When I started checking, I was shocked to find that ALL of the CDs so far have started and read just fine! Many of the photos were taken on my Kodak DC3200, my first digital camera, and at the fine resolution would shoot an image that was ALMOST a megapixel! Wow! So lots of blasts from the past are upcoming, particularly until I feel better and can go photographing again.
