Day 82: Along the North Shore!

After the Dole Plantation we headed up to the North Shore.  It is not to long of a drive. (Many of these photos are the Dailylife Wife’s: it is apparently now a capital offense to remove your hands from the steering wheel for >>any<< reason on this Island!) As we dropped down out of the […]

Day 80: The Pineapple Express, part 2!

The Dole Plantation is mainly a demonstration of what they do and did now.  The crops are exhibits.  Pineapple and sugar cane have pretty much moved away from the Islands.  Here is sugar cane and bananas (the short plants…) More of the same. Cheap farm labor. A nice green hedge as we roll along. They […]

Admin note: Uh Oh!

If the next week’s worth of posts are sparse, it is because we are taking a cruise around the islands, and if nothing has changed they seem to charge about $1 per bit for the Internet onboard the ship…We will catch up as soon as we can! {!-{> Our first morning! (1/1500, f8, 40mm, ISO […]

Day 77: The first afternoon and evening!

At the Ko Olina Beach Club Resort the Common Myna abounds! (All photos taken on the Canon Powershot SX100IS unless otherwise noted!) The lovely (manmade?) cove and beach at the Ko Olina. A Nutmeg Mannikin watches over our lunch! One of the many funny red plants that thrive in Hawaii. Salsa, chips and a Longboard […]

Day 76: In the air to Hawaii!

The next morning it was cold and rainy at the SEATAC terminal…Seattle in March.  YUCK! (Click to enlarge; BACK to return!) (Four photos stitched together in PS Elements 9) There was substantial de-icing going on. (All photos taken on an Apple iPod or a Canon Powershot SX100S) But soon it was up into the clouds! […]

Day 75

Traveling on to Seattle and Tacoma the weather was a lot more like winter than we saw in Montana this year (so far!): (Canon Powershot SX100IS on Auto) In spite of all of the weather, snow and slush, we made it over okay. We got together with Dailylife Daughter #2, and had a good lunch, […]

Day 74

WOW!  The new Honda Pilot got 24.3 miles per gallon coming over from Missoula to Spokane, all at the speed limit, mostly 75 mph, with a mountain pass and 4th of July Summit!  They told us mileage would go up, and it is! (Canon Powershot on automatic) ~Curtis in /\/\onTana! {!-{>
