We started the day at the Farmers Market in Hanalei. Â It isn’t terribly large, but is usually very well attended. Â This is about half of the Market. Â There should be a lot more people, but one of the sources for people is the cruise ships, and apparently the one for today got stopped out at sea because one of the passengers seemed to fall overboard, and there has to be an investigation before it comes into Hawaiian waters.
(A two photo panorama; all photos on the Nikon Coolpix P7100)
I don’t know if these are to eat, roll you body on for a massage, make into slippers, or put a leash on it and take it for a walk. Â I was afraid to ask what they were. Â They are about 18 to 22 inches long…
(It turns out this is Jack Fruit, and there is a tasty pod inside of it…)
Across a big field and baskeball court is this nice old church. Â They park some of the cars from the Farmers Market there.
Either the Reverend or the Church is doing good for their age, and I didn’t see Reverend Goto anywhere around. Â One or the other has been going since 1834!
A four photo panorama of the inside, uncropped.
It does have some very nice stained glass windows.
Here is the church form the other side. Â It is very prominent on the main (and only!) drag in town.
Beyond the church is the grade school, with the copper roof. Â We aren’t sure what the white buildings in-between are.
This is one of the residential streets. Â There are several waterfalls on that mountain coming down the middle of the frame. Â Wires on poles are a constant in Hawai’i and Kaua’i..
If you looked left from near here, you’d see one on the typical or slightly nicer/newer houses. Â This is a block from the Hanalei Bay Beach. Â Prices start at: Â One. Â Point. Â Two. Â Million. Â Dollars.
Traveling further up the road to the west is this nice view of a small beach. Â You park between the trees on the left side and you are there! Â Most of the beaches up here on the North Shore are that way.
We lunched at the Hanalei Colony Resort Mediterranean Gourmet. Â Thankfully the fine Mediterranean cuisine included a hamburger with cheddar. Â This is a nice place to stay right on the beach, without a town around you. Â It is “remote” and about five miles from Hanalei.
Happy, happy! Â Joy, joy!
Very good ice water…
Very good root beer…
Very nice sangria…
All right beside the beach. Â They also have a luau.
(Okay, the six photos above were off my iPad Mini…)
We went out to the Lighthouse again to watch the birds. Â It is peaceful there! Â Here is the view on the way back.
A nice couple took our photo. Â Apparently, they have something against our feet showing…
Here is the same photo as a simulated infrared back and white…
After that we headed down the road towards Hanalei to a scenic view of the sunset.
Here are three more views with some fanciful editing…

Then we moved up to the golf course near the Bali Hai!

All in all, a nice day. Â Tell me which sunset you like best!
