Day 176

Early March on the Front Range of the Rockies: this is a panorama from one image. (Click to enlarge; BACK to return) (1/1000s f/9.5 ISO250 28mm -1/2 stop) ~Curtis in /\/\onTana! {!-{>

Day 173

Rainbow Dam and Falls by Moonlight! No, not really.  I used a variable neutral density filter, and played with the image to look “nightish”. (1sec, f/32, ISO100, 70mm, -1 stop, neural density filter) Here is a more normal daylight photo taken at the same time. (4sec, f/19, ISO100, 170mm) ~Curtis in /\/\onTana! {!-{>

Day 170

My only “successful”panorama of Wainiha Bay.  It is made from six photos, as I recall, and it didn’t line up well when I stitched them together in Elements.  Part of that is because the waves kept changing position (rolling in!) as I took the shots.  Darn waves.  So the horizon isn’t straight, but it is […]

Day 169: Back on the Beach!

Wainiha Beach, near Hanalei. Looking back towards Princeville in the distance, Hanalei is just around the near by point. Rocks on the shore. And the waves washing up on them. … … The Dailylife Wife hard at work, photographing. Looking up! There is that Hong Kong Sunrise again… The Dailylife Venus… …rising from the waves! […]

Day 168: Back to Kauai!

This is the Spouting Horn in Kukui’ula. As the waves roll up to the shore, water is forced into lave tubes and is squirted out with weird noises. It is pretty impressive. There was a bigger one.  It threw water a hundred feet up or so.  A plantation owner dynamited it because it blew salt […]

Day 165: Glacier National Park!

I was hoping the Going to the Sun Highway over Logan Pass would be open, but they delayed it a couple of days.  Lake McDonald was nice, however!  (1/90s f/13.0 ISO100 28mm -1/2 stop) (1/180s f/13.0 ISO100 75mm -1/2 stop) ~Curtis in Glacier National Park! {!-{>

Day 162: Cap’t Andy’s Cruise! Part 10

Okay, I did find a few more whale photos… *** *** *** ~Curtis off the Napali Coast! {!-{>

Day 161: Cap’t Andy’s Cruise! Part 9

Sunset.  It is billed as a Sunset Dinner Cruise, after all!  Note the other sailboat on the horizon. *** I don’t know if it deliberately ran in front of the sun or not, but it is a big ocean to sail in… *** Our Captain. One of the crew took these for us. She hit […]

Day 159: Cap’t Andy’s Cruise! Part 7

A six photo panorama.  I didn’t leave enough room on each photo for it all to be squared off.  So much for using the Dailylife Wife’s camera! {!-{> This is what it looked like to the people in the canoes who first found Kauai.  Without the guy on the right with the digital camera. Click […]

Day 158: Cap’t Andy’s Cruise! Part 6

We had been motoring into the wind to this point, so we could get up to the Napali Coast, see it, and return, to see the sun set nearer to the dock we started from.  But now we raised the sails!  Or rather, this member of the crew did. We also turned back downwind about […]
