The opposite end of the Union Station has a very nice collection of locomotives and rolling stock  (railroad cars). First is the X-26, a jet engined locomotive made in 1960.  The jet turbine (used to create electricity instead of a diesel engine) powered locomotive was able to pull 735 loaded cars…a train seven miles long! On Saturday I braved the near 100F temperature and headed up to Ogden to the Union Pacific Station and the Utah Railroad Museums.  They have a an old 0-6-0 steam engine with tender and two cabooses set up outside as a playground…kids can crawl all over these things!  They must have not heard about litigation […]
