Day 97: Leaving Maui in the Evening…

Sometime after the whales ceased their show, we slowly left the dock to cruise on to our next stop.

The thrusters that all of the cruise ships now have sure make docking and undocking look easy: no tugboats needed!  But they sure stir up a mess…

This is the port arrival building we had to walk through to get off or on the boat.  We watched the whales over the top of it.  It goes on a fair bit more to the right.

But as in almost all things in Hawai’i, there is a friendly greeting or farewell.

More thruster action as they turn the boat around from right at the dock.

The Sun was setting behind the volcano, and made for a very interesting view.  This is Kahului in the Mountain’s shadow.

The Sun was setting and the rays made a wonderful crown to the Mountain.

A closeup detail.

A three photo panorama made in PS Elements.

And then, to top off the evening, these guys came paddling out from the shore!
