Day 169, June 8th, part 11!

The final post for June 8th!  At Last!  {!-{P

As we got into the evening (and near to the summer solstice the evenings were quite long indeed) we steamed north towards Juneau.  Here is some of the scenery in a one photo panorama.

An artsy photo of the ocean.

More scenery!

Here we are at dinner, with the Dailylife Wife checking out her photos.

A REALLY artsy phot of the ocean: I turned the fisheye effect on!

After dinner we went up on the Sports Deck (Deck 9) to stroll around a bit.  The funny looking structure to the left is interesting.

It is a retractable roof over the Lido Deck pool.

It doesn’t get opened too often on the Alaska run, I think, but the humidity can really build up near the pool.  They will crack it open to let it out.

We are about to pass the Amsterdam’s sister ship, the Holland America Line’s Zaandam.

If you look at the middle top of the Zaandam you can see it also has a retractable roof over her Lido Deck pool.

Here it is (closed) in a closer view.

While they were headed south, we steamed in circles near most of the night with three other cruise liners.  They apparently don’t let ships dock at night in Juneau.

And one final view of some of the fantastic scenery from the Lower Promenade Deck (Deck 3), near our stateroom.
