Here is the rest of Register Rock along the Oregon Trail near American Falls, Idaho. Â The actual rock is that dark shadow under the pavillion.
This is a nice little historic rest area.
The settlers traveling along the Oregon Trail put a lot of effort into marking their names here.
It is not easy carving into rock such that it will still be readable almost 200 years later.
Independence Rock in Wyoming is much the same.

400,000 people came by here from 1836 to 1869, by foot, horse and wagon. Â Amazing.
