I caught a couple of glimpses of deer on the Blackfoot River when I was driving over to Missoula Tuesday. I went back and got these shots.

I guess they didn’t like being photographed…

I should mention here that the lens that I used is Canon’s 28-135mm IS. It is the basic lens that comes with upper end Canon digital cameras, and is one of the best non-L lenses Canon makes. These are 100% crops with little or no sharpening in post production. Some people call it Canon’s cheapest L lens, it is so good. Normal $399 without a camera body (about $100 when it is with the body) I got mine for $299 because I didn’t need a Canon box for it. I think they took it out of a kit and then sold the lens and body separately. However they did it, this is one great lens, and the Image Stabilization is superb. If you are shooting a Canon and still have that 18-55 or 28-90 non-is lens, this is a great one to replace it with. It is an EF, not EFS, so if you ever get a full frame Canon digital it will still work.
