One of the fun looking places there. \u00c2\u00a0Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to try it out…<\/p>\n

Driving up to the end of town, I found a sort-of-underground house.<\/p>\n

Yup! The Durango and Silverton has reached town!<\/p>\n

My Dad and I rode the 45 miles up here from Durango back in 1998<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After they let the passengers off in the middle of the street for a couple of hours, so they can shop the town dry, the train backs up to the “wye” to turn around, before backing up to this same place to let the passengers back on before the trip back to Durango.<\/p>\n

A view back down to Silverton as we were leaving.<\/p>\n

You can see where the train backs up.<\/p>\n

An closer view from the photo above. \u00c2\u00a0You can see most of the “wye” on the right end of the photo. \u00c2\u00a0that is how you turn a train around without a loop or a turntable.<\/p>\n
