<\/a><\/p>\nIt was a foggy morning. \u00c2\u00a0Apparently we missed a bunch of whales by not being up at 4:30am…althought the Dailylife Wife saw one briefly out our stateroom window.<\/p>\n
It was a bit brisk, too.<\/p>\n There she blows! \u00c2\u00a0One, two, three, four, and a tail! \u00c2\u00a0(You can just see the first blow on the far right side…)<\/p>\n There’s another humpback!<\/p>\n (Click to enlarge!)<\/p>\n The terminal moraine of Sawyer Glacier, a couple hundred years ago…it retreated before Global Warming even started! \u00c2\u00a0How prescient! \u00c2\u00a0I think they dredged beside it…we went awfully close…<\/p>\n Better,,,<\/p>\n but still a lot of fog.<\/p>\n Here come the icebergs!<\/p>\n The bigger ones were very blue.<\/p>\n It comes from the ice being very dense without a lot of air bubbles in it.<\/p>\n The MS Amsterdam is a good sized ship. \u00c2\u00a0There were around 3000 passengers and crew.<\/p>\n So here we are winding our way up this relatively narrow fjord…<\/p>\n One of those special moving pictures! \u00c2\u00a0It looks a little better if you click on it to see it by itself.<\/p>\n There were other boats and ships too. \u00c2\u00a0The big ships mostly were in the afternoon.<\/p>\n I like this one. \u00c2\u00a0It is the right size for my runabout after my lottery ticket comes in! \u00c2\u00a0{!-{P<\/p>\n At long last, Sawyer Glacier!<\/p>\n Here is a bit better view. \u00c2\u00a0For some reason the Captain didn’t want to get into the icebergs…<\/p>\n So after he spun the ship around a few times (gotta love those bow trusters!) we headed back down Tracy Arm. \u00c2\u00a0They may close Tracy Arm to big ships in the next year or two, so we were lucky to get up here and see it in comfort.<\/p>\n The other photographer on the expedition…<\/p>\n ***<\/p>\n This couple was photo-happy too!<\/p>\n Just about the last view of the Arm.<\/p>\n Then suddenly: Bears!<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
