<\/a><\/p>\nBesides being very lush and colorful (and wet…), Steve had another great idea! \u00c2\u00a0He takes trees, with roots still attached, and plants them in the ground upside-down. \u00c2\u00a0The he plants flowers in the roots.<\/p>\n
It is a neat idea, and works very well.<\/p>\n Lots of flowers on the ground, too.<\/p>\n ***<\/p>\n ***<\/p>\n ***<\/p>\n Now part of the tour of the Garden is a ride to the lookout on top of the slide area. \u00c2\u00a0They have these Clubman 12 passenger golf carts geared way, way<\/strong><\/em> down and they crawl up this steep road they made to the overlook. \u00c2\u00a0Here is how steep the road is, all the way up!<\/p>\n On the far right side is a corner. It is a “post road” corner. \u00c2\u00a0They laid out tree trunks and then buried them in dirt. \u00c2\u00a0This used to be a common road making method, pre-pavement.<\/p>\n And a look down from that corner. \u00c2\u00a0Great Fun!<\/p>\n There is a boardwalk at the top for the overlook. \u00c2\u00a0The Dailylife Wife is in the center with the white hat.<\/p>\n Looking North over the Juneau Airport we see Sunshine!<\/p>\n Southward we see Juneau, still in the rain.<\/p>\n And if you look a little closer…<\/p>\n …closer still…you can see our ship. \u00c2\u00a0Well, the Grande Princess. \u00c2\u00a0We were just behind her to the left.<\/p>\n Of course, it being a Garden, more flowers!<\/p>\n And a pond!<\/p>\n ***<\/p>\n ***<\/p>\n The Greenhouse\/Gift Shop\/Snack Bar was colorful, too!<\/p>\n And the Dailylife Wife’s favorite:<\/p>\n One last upside-down tree…<\/p>\n And then on to the bus and Mendenhall Glacier!<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
