<\/a><\/p>\nThe first thing we see is one of the few, if not only, bits of four lane highway on Kauai!<\/p>\n
\u00c2\u00a0A Kakui nut lei.<\/p>\n We have come to the Kauai Plantation to ride the train. \u00c2\u00a0Afterwards there was also a pleasant diversion.<\/p>\n It is an old Plantation train, with a couple of open air passenger cars.<\/p>\n They have a fair extensive route around the Plantation. \u00c2\u00a0We start near the old manor house that is now a ritzy restaurant, with other shops and stuff inside. \u00c2\u00a0We missed out on the rum sampling…<\/p>\n More blooming plumeria!<\/p>\n Even little tourist type railroads have to have a yard for supplies and rolling stock and such.<\/p>\n And an engine house, even for our cute little one.<\/p>\n More big green fruit. \u00c2\u00a0There are a lot of test crops here, both for the passengers to enjoy, and to find things to replace the now defunct pineapple fields.<\/p>\n Green and orange fruit…<\/p>\n The track here is fairly extensive, and in addition to tourists, they hold weddings, reunions, and all types of gatherings here. \u00c2\u00a0All gotten to by rail, of course!<\/p>\n \u00c2\u00a0Besides the various show crops, there are herds of pigs…<\/p>\n ….and goats.<\/p>\n The scenery is well groomed, and the track loops around enough that you never seem to be going over the same ground.<\/p>\n More pigs.<\/p>\n Horses (and a few mules!).<\/p>\n Did I mention the pigs? \u00c2\u00a0Or chickens?<\/p>\n Longhorns (and pigs in the background…).<\/p>\n Beautiful vistas.<\/p>\n All too soon (for me, anyway!) we are heading back to the station.<\/p>\n But not before we pass some Hawaiian chicken coops!<\/p>\n Then we arrive back where we started.<\/p>\n A traditional Hello and Goodbye (and a lot more) on steam locomotive gears!<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>…<\/p>\n
