After the waterfall we headed to the Akatsuka Orchid Gardens.<\/p>\n

There are hundreds of Orchids of all different varieties here. \u00c2\u00a0Some are quite colorful.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And some are plain.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We had 25 minutes, including the restroom break.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

That is the downside to the Shore Excursions or organized tours.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

You are on a schedule, and never quite get enough time for anything.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So you do what you can. \u00c2\u00a0I have no idea what the news of all of these orchids are, and I only photographed a few of them.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I was using my new Canon EF100mm Macro, if not for the first time, at least pretty close to the first time.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So there was a lot of quick shooting going on. \u00c2\u00a0I could have spent the 25 minutes on just one flower and still needed more time!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It consolation was that it did smell pretty nice in there!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I was amazed at the variety.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Big and small, colorful and plain, inexpensive and very much NOT inexpensive!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It was quite a sight.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I don’t know what these two are…they don’t look like orchids to me.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>…<\/p>\n

Darned if I know!<\/p>\n

…\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Then it was back on the bus and off to the Volcano!<\/p>\n

(Just a note if you are confused. \u00c2\u00a0The Day mentioned in the Titles are blog post days, not days on Hawai’i. \u00c2\u00a0We got there on the 14th of March, and this post, like the one before and the next couple, are from the 20th of March.)<\/p>\n
